1st HUSSARS NORMANDY TOUR 2011
Tour Dates: June 03 - 13
Verstraete Travel & Cruises in cooperation with Veterans and members of the 1st Hussars invite our veterans, their families, friends and interested Canadians to return to Europe with us this year. We’ll visit Paris then on to Bayeux and spend a few days in Normandy.
We’ll attend remembrance services with our good friends from Le Mesnil Patry, participate in the June 6th services at Juno Beach and travel to Creully for a very special ceremony. Lt. Bill McCormick was the leader of the 1st Hussars Troop that was the only allied force that met their D-Day objective and the town of Creully is honouring him by naming the Town Square after him.
On to Arras, Ypres, Arnhem, and Amsterdam with visits to Holten and Groesbeek Canadian Cemeteries and end our trip in beautiful Amsterdam. Members of the Regiment, past and present, will act as tour guides as we visit the battlefields that were so important to the 1st Hussars.
